September 27, 2019 admin

Why celebrate World Tourism day:

People around the globe celebrate world tourism day on 27th September every year. The aim is to create awareness in international community about the importance of tourism and it’s social, economic, cultural and political values. This day was selected, since on this day the laws of United Nations World Tourism Organization came into force in the year 1970, marking a new chapter in global tourism. Many tourism enterprises and organizations, as well as government agencies with a special interest in tourism, celebrate the event with various special events and festivities. India has been chosen as the host country to celebrate World Tourism Day 2019 on the theme ‘Tourism and Jobs: A better future for all’. The event seeks to address global challenges outlined in the United Nations Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and highlight the contribution the tourism sector can make in reaching these goals.

India and specifically Rajasthan

India has been one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world. When it comes to tourism, India ranks 10th in the world and 6th in Asia. India has 29 states and 7 UTs. Each state or UT has one or more tourist locations with its own language, culture, cuisines and dress code. Inspite of its diversity, India presents itself as “Incredible India” for the world around. You can find hill stations, river valleys, sea shores, meadows, forests and desert kinds of topography in one geographical territory “India”.

The Icing on the cake is Rajasthan, one of the most sought after travel destination in India. . Rajasthan also forms part of the Golden triangle which connects the capital Delhi to Agra and Jaipur. The largest state of India in terms of area is indeed a land of contrasts. From lush green mountains of Udaipur to dry deserts of Jaisalmer, Rajasthan offers myriad options to the tourists. I believe that the relatively well-developed tourism infrastructure is matched by the gradual appearance of eco-friendly options. More than that there are options which make a genuine effort to connect visitors to Rajasthani culture beyond a superficial level. Thereby creating more opportunities for responsible tourism in Rajasthan.
